The coupling of the Chevrolet LS2 Corvette V8 and the Tremec 6-speed transmission (or 4 speed auto) made this "Tin Indian" a noble warrior. The Pontiac Tempest V8 GTO arguably was one of the first Pony cars of the 60's.
